With nothing in front it is possible to get on using your putter. Tamarin's own Denis Deegan can attest to that
Look out over the Straits to Singapore and Malaysia and then hit straight on a devious hole. Too far and in the bunker or water; slice and you get to repeat the shot with a pro ball with an OB likely
A Par 4 that requires distance AND skill. OB right, water left.
A short but devilishly hard Par 5 to start your second nine. The fairway is 35 metres wide at the 70 metre mark Only 390 metres long and the designer expects perhaps an AVERAGE score of 10 on this hole. Tee off too far and you have to chip back to the landing area; too short and chip forward.
A simple Par 3 across water.... BUT one of the biggest collectors of golf balls on the course. Not quite an island green but a 90% carry is needed
Bunkers to the right, a designer bunker straight in front (with a vertical face) Watch when your ball bounces .. the fairway to the right is shaped to feed the ball into the bunkers
A drivable Par 4 with a risk and reward element... watch the bounce when your big tee shot lands! Do it just right and an EAGLE beckons The green gives rise to the name of the hole...
Grip it and Rip It! - the catch cry of the long drive fraternity. A drivable Par 4 for the big hitters. Drop short and there is trouble.. play right or fly the trap and all is well...
Tamarin has several pairs of nesting eagles and they can often be seen circling high above the course and from these tee boxes the view is amazing.
Water to the left; Jungle OB to the right
An uphill Par 3 playing longer than the direct distance guarded by a front bunker that will punish short tee shots. A vertical face at the front the bunker makes a penalty drop seem attractive
All artists need to draw - on this hole a draw is essential for a competitive score. A big right to left shape with 5 bunkers on the left hand side guarding the water.... OB to the right for the errant slices or long straight shots
One of the few holes where the monkeys will watch your tee shot.. Spider monkeys at the tee box, Macaque monkeys on the upper level of the fairway Don't stress - they don't steal golf balls (often)
A short Par 3... BUT .... WHEN you go into the water behind the green... the Drop Zone is COMPULSORY and not the easiest chip even then Two bunkers guarding the green...
It looks longer than it is to carry the mangroves BUT the far side opens up AWAY from you making it longer to the right
A lengthy Par 5 with a need to carry at least one of the two lakes facing you. To the right it's OB so a straight shot is best
When the course was built these trees were not a big issue on this Par 4... now a straight tee shot or a draw is needed UNLESS you go OVER the trees
A new Par 4 hole to finish your round. Named the swamp after the quicksand found right where we wanted to put a nice lake around the green meaning we couldn't excavate the area Tee off more than 200m and less than 250m and you can find yourself using the first of the two COMPULSORY Drop Zones Hit too far and go into the drain behind the green and find yourself using the second of the two COMPULSORY Drop Zones
