Tamarin Golf Course is a hidden gem on the island of Batam and a true rarity in the modern world of golf. In Asia and in the southern hemisphere perhaps a unique trendsetter – a small footprint FULL LENGTH 18 hole course of just on 6000 metres; ecologically friendly and challenging even for the single handicap player.
The layout (in place since October 2020) is a Jack Nicklaus signature course designed and built as a full size PGA style competition course with the Par 35 Championship Nine and the Challenge Nine Par 36 with everything facing the golfer that a Nicklaus course is renowned for; numerous well placed bunkers; only three holes NOT having water hazards; and subtle undulations that tease and deny even skilled golfers.
Tamarin boasts that it is the most challenging layout in Batam – come and check it out! Every hole is uniquely named with the name telling you what to expect…. Come and test your golf.
Whether you are a high handicapper needing practice with your Coach or a business person wanting a private discussion in a relaxed atmosphere over golf without time pressures, or a group wanting to beat Jack Nicklaus at his best; the Management at this course caters to YOU.
With The Black & White Group as operators, the Management at Tamarin are very clear – playing at Tamarin is about the golfing experience, the social unhurried experience, rather than playing 18 holes of golf and staying “on the clock”. Other courses cater to competition back to back golf; The VIP is about the experience more than the pace!
If you are flying into Batam, the Tamarin Course is 15 minutes from Hang Nadim Airport. If coming by ferry, step off the ferry after a brief 30 minute trip from Singapore (you can see the course on your left alongside the ferry harbour entrance as you arrive on the ferry) walk 20 metres and you are greeted at the Tamarin Golf Course – clubhouse facilities right AT the Nongsa Ferry Terminal.
Nestled among trees and bush which are unspoiled and mature and yet alongside the beachfront of Nongsa the feeling of restfulness as you play is guaranteed to please.
A revamp of the course in early 2019 saw fresh life breathed into it, with further upgrading in 2020 (and the opening of the Challenge Nine) new holes opened in 2023 and a final Par 5 (reputedly the most difficult short Par 5 in ASIA – playing 360m to 390m with an average score of 10) opened January 1 2024 and the overall Par going to 71 the recent rebranding truly states its purpose:
